Explanation of Fees
Town of Hanson By-Law Fee Schedule
Effective February 8, 2011 (as revised by vote of the Commission on December 14, 2010)
Category 1 Fee for each activity is $110 per activity
- Existing dwelling; accessory structure, addition, driveway, pool, etc.
- Site preparation, removal of vegetation, excavation, grading, house not proposed;
- Control of nuisance vegetation by removal, herbicides, etc. pursuant to 310 CMR 10.53(4)
- Resource Area improvement;
- Septic Upgrade, repair;
- Monitoring well activities;
- New agricultural or aquaculture projects.
Category 2 Fee for each activity is $500.00 per activity
- Construction of single family house, site prep, detention basin, driveway (projects not pursuant to 310 CMR 10.53(e);
- Parking lot;
- Beach nourishment;
- Electric generating facility activities, unrelated to drainage;
- Inland limited projects except road crossings and agriculture
- Each crossing for driveway to a single family house; *Limited project
- Any point source discharge;
- Control vegetation in development;
- Water level variations;
- Any other activity not in Category 1,3,4,5, or 6
- Water supply exploration.
Category 3 Fee for each activity is $1,050.00 per activity
- site preparation for any other development other than a single family home including removal of vegetation, excavation and grading when actual construction is not proposed.
- each building (for development) including site;
- road construction not crossing or driveway;
- hazardous cleanup;
- water supply development.
Category 4 Fee for each activity is $1,450 per activity
- each road crossing for development or commercial road; *Limited project
- dam, sluiceway
- landfills operation/closures;
- sand and gravel operations;
- railroad line construction;
- bridge;
- hazardous waste alterations to resource areas;
- dredging;
- package treatment plant and discharge;
- airport tree clearing;
- oil and/or hazardous material release response actions
Category 5 Notice of Intent Fee for Subdivisions
$4.00 per linear foot of roadway sideline within 100 feet of a resource area.
(total fee not to be less than $100.00 or greater than $2,000.00).
