Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes October 4, 1999
Special Town Meeting
Hanson Middle School
Present: Chairman Daniel Webster, Judy Murdoch, Charles Flynn, Cathy Kuchinski, and Executive Secretary Joseph Nugent.
Article 11 - Chairman Webster explained Dept. of Revenue’s opinion that severance pay cannot be taken from a salary line. He proposed that Article 9 by amended to include severance pay. Town Counsel and the Moderator do not have a problem with the proposal.
In the event that Article 9 is not successful as amended, the Board will move forward with Article 11 as written and deal with DOR later.
If Article 9 is voted as amended, the Board can recommend passing over Article 11.
MOTION by Murdoch, second by Flynn to recommend Amendment to Article 9 to include severance pay. Voted 3 - 1 (Kuchinski in the negative) to recommend Article 9 as amended.
Article 8 - Chairman Webster recommended passing over Clerical Union issue.
MOTION by Murdoch, second by Kuchinski to pass over Article 8. Voted 4 - 0 to pass over Article 8.
Article 14 - Fire Staion Exhause System $18,100.00 - according to Chief Huska the bids came in much higher than anticipated. The added amount will cover the entire project.
MOTION by Murdoch, second by Kuchinski to approve Article 14. Voted 4 - 0 to recommend Article 14.
Article 16 - Transfer $250,000.00 from free cash into Stabilization.
MOTION by Kuchinski, second by Murdoch to recommend Article 16. Vote 4 - 0 to recommend Article 16.
