SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
May 5, 1997
Moderator Charles Mann called the meeting to order at 7:45 p.m. in the Memorial Auditorium, Indian Head School with Richard Powers, Michael Regan and Edward Gronlund appointed and sworn in as tellers.
Town Counsel was Barbara Saint Andre from Kopelman and Paige.
The Moderator declared a quorum to be present.
ARTICLE 1: To see if the Town will vote to transfer $3000.00 from the Police Revolving Account and or transfer from available free cash, to the 1996 Annual Town Meeting, Article 5, Line 98, Police Expenses, to cover the costs of the Sergeant's exam for the Police Dept. or take any other action in relation there to.
Proposed by the Chief of Police

VOTED Aye, voice to transfer $3,000 from Police Revolving Account to the 1996 Annual Town Meeting, Article 5, line 98, Police Expense to cover the cost of the sargeant's exam for the Police Department.
ARTICLE 2: To see if the Town will vote to transfer $36,855.00 from the Sale of Town Owned Property; $22,950.00 from the 1995 Annual Town Meeting, Article 8, Winter St. Dam; $2481.23 from the 1992 Special Town Meeting Article 7 Communication Center; and $850.00 from the 1996 Annual Town Meeting Article 12, Indian Head School Asbestos Removal for a total of $63,136.23 into the Capital Improvement Fund or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 4: To see if the Town will vote to amend the Town of Hanson General By-Laws, Article 1-1, Sec. 1A by deleting in the second sentence the words "Saturday preceding the third Monday" and in its place insert the words "third Saturday" or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 6: To see if the Town will vote to transfer a sum of money from the Water Surplus Account to fund an engineering and design contract for a Water Department Office and Garage or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 7: To see if the Town will vote to transfer a sum of money from the Water Surplus Account to fund a Master Plan for the Water Department or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 8: To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and transfer from Article 5, Line 8, Unemployment of the May 1996 Annual Town Meeting, a sum of money to Article 5, Line 13 Postage, of the May 1996 Annual Town Meeting or take any other action in relation thereto.

A $500 stipend will be paid in June of each fiscal year to those call firefighters who successfully complete and maintain the certification of an EMT recognized by the state and approved by the Fire Chief.
