Hanson Fire Department responds to Structure Fire at 253 Woodbine Ave.

 

 

 

Hanson, MA (February 27, 2021) –   At 13:00 hrs. the Hanson Fire Department received a report of a structure fire at 253 Woodbine Ave. The first arriving engine crew encountered moderate smoke coming from the rear of the structure.  The fire originated in the basement area and was knocked down within 5 minutes, all crews were clear of the scene by 14:14 hrs. and there were no injuries.

Fire and water Damage was contained to a kitchen area in the basement with moderate smoke damage throughout the interior. Estimate on damage is approximately $50,000. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation but appears to be accidental. The occupants are being assisted by the Red Cross.

During the incident, Hanson’s station was covered by Whitman Fire while Halifax and Pembroke Fire assisted at the scene. Hanson Police provided traffic control.
