Hanson Fire Department responds to Structure Fire at 95 Union Park Street

Hanson, MA (May 28, 2021) –   At 15:05 hrs. on Friday May 28, 2021 the Hanson Fire Department was dispatched by the Regional Old Colony Communications Center (ROCCC) for a report of a structure fire. While enroute ROCCC dispatchers updated the responding engine that they were receiving multiple calls that the house was on fire and that all occupants had exited the house. Lt. Wilson requested a working fire assignment bringing resources from other towns to assist. Due to our ambulance being on an EMS call the first arriving engine was staffed with one lieutenant and one firefighter. They were able to knock down the visible fire on the exterior and then entered and extinguished the remaining fire. They were assisted at the scene by an off-duty firefighter from Pembroke and an off-duty firefighter from Whitman. Hanson Police Officers on scene assisted the occupants.

Fire damage was extensive to the exterior side of the house with moderate fire, smoke and water damage throughout the interior. Estimate on damage is approximately $250,000. The house is uninhabitable at this time. Five adult occupants were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross. There were no injuries. All crews cleared the scene at 19:40 hrs.

 The fire is currently under investigation by the Hanson Fire Department, Hanson Police Department and
 the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s Office. At this time the cause in undetermined.

During the incident, Hanson’s station was covered by Hanover Fire while Halifax Fire, Pembroke Fire and Whitman Fire assisted at the scene.
