Water Department - Updated Water Restriction
Due to increasing demand on the town's water supply and the need to protect essential water resources for drinking, sanitation, fire protection, and public health, the Hanson Water Department is implementing a Total Outdoor Water Ban effective 6/16/2026.
This action is consistent with restrictions adopted by surrounding communities and is necessary to ensure a reliable water supply for all residents during this period of high demand and limited recharge.
Effective immediately, all nonessential outdoor water use is prohibited, including:
- Lawn watering
- Sprinklers
- Washing vehicles
- Filling swimming pools
- Washing exterior surfaces
Hanson Water Department will be monitoring and enforcing this restriction 7 days a week.
If you have an irrigation system (which is not allowed on town water), your well card must be posted on your front lawn or be visible from the street. This prevents the Water Department from stopping to enforce violations of our rules and regulations. If you do not have a well card, please visit the Water Department to obtain one.
The Department will continue to monitor water supply conditions and will lift or modify the restriction as soon as conditions allow.
We understand these restrictions are inconvenient, but they are necessary to protect the community's water supply and maintain adequate reserves for fire protection and essential daily needs. We appreciate the cooperation of all residents.
