FEATURES

This new (2020) property provides access to the Shumatuscacant River for canoes, kayaks and anglers. Follow the wide cart path from the parking area, along West Washington Street, to the river. The embankment is suitable for launching to the river. There are plans in the works for expanding and improving the trail system.

TRAIL DESCRIPTION

A wide gravel cart path extends from the parking area less than a tenth of a mile to the Shumatuscacant River. Additional narrow footpaths begin to the rear of the parking area and head into the woods, for additional river views. Some of these paths are overgrown.

HABITATS AND WILDLIFE

This property provides direct access to the Shumatuscacant River. Elsewhere on the property (not currently accessible by trail) is the confluence of Poor Meadow Brook and the Shumatuscacant River. They are part of the Satucket River watershed.

There is reported evidence of beaver activity on the property as well, but not in the areas that are presently accessible on foot.

The forest is primarily beech and maple, with plenty of ferns and some pine.
