Hanson Police Department-Full Time Police Officer Vacancy

The Hanson Police Department is accepting applications for a full time police officer. The Town offers a competitive starting salary of $50,091.42, college education incentive, and a comprehensive benefit program. All applicants must have successfully completed an MPTC Certified Police Recruit Academy for consideration or have an exemption from the MPTC. Applicants who have completed an academy outside of Massachusetts should request an Advisory from MPTC prior to making application.  Associate’s degree or higher in Criminal Justice or related field is preferred. 

Minimum requirements:

Must be 21 years of age on appointment date.

Be a Massachusetts resident upon appointment date

Be a High School graduate or possess a G.E.D.

Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license on appointment date

Must have the ability to possess Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms Permit.

Must statutorily qualify for appointment; No person who has been convicted of a felony or any offense punishable under MGL Chapter 94C.

The applicant must pass an oral interview panel, an interview with the Chief of Police and a comprehensive background investigation prior to appointment. The applicant will be required to successfully pass a medical exam, a psychological exam, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts PAT fitness test, and must be able to perform the duties of a police officer. 

Applicants are advised that MGL Chapter 22C section 10 prohibits police officers from smoking any tobacco products. Applicants having any body art, tattoos, intentional scarring, mutilation, or dental ornamentation which would be visible while wearing the department uniform will not be considered.
